Peer Review Policies
The Acceso Científico Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal applies a double-blind peer review system, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers remain confidential throughout the evaluation process. This model aims to ensure impartiality, objectivity, and transparency in the assessment of manuscripts, guaranteeing that editorial decisions are based exclusively on the scientific merit, methodological quality, and academic relevance of the submitted work.
The review process follows internationally recognized standards of editorial good practices, including the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and other guidelines widely adopted in scientific publishing.
Editorial evaluation process.
The editorial process for manuscripts submitted to the journal is carried out through several sequential stages designed to ensure a rigorous and transparent evaluation.
During the initial review (desk review), the editor performs a preliminary assessment of the manuscript to verify its thematic relevance to the journal’s scope, compliance with editorial guidelines, academic structure, originality of the content, and basic methodological quality. At this stage, similarity checks may also be performed using plagiarism detection tools. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage without proceeding to external review.
After passing the initial review, the manuscript proceeds to the assignment of external reviewers. Manuscripts are sent to specialists in the relevant field of study. Selected reviewers must have recognized academic or research experience in the subject area and must declare the absence of conflicts of interest before accepting the review.
During the peer review stage, reviewers evaluate the manuscript considering several academic criteria, including originality, relevance of the topic, theoretical framework, methodological rigor, clarity of writing, consistency of results, validity of conclusions, and contribution to scientific knowledge. After the evaluation, reviewers provide a recommendation that may include: acceptance, acceptance with minor revisions, major revisions with resubmission for evaluation, or rejection.
The editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief in coordination with the editorial board, based on the reports provided by the reviewers. In cases where significant discrepancies exist between reviewer recommendations, the journal may request an additional evaluation from a third reviewer.
When revisions are requested, the manuscript enters the author revision stage. Authors must submit a revised version of the manuscript along with a detailed response document addressing each comment made by the reviewers. Depending on the extent of the revisions, the manuscript may undergo an additional round of peer review.
Once the manuscript is accepted, it proceeds to the editing and publication stage, which includes copyediting, bibliographic standardization, layout formatting, proofreading, and final author approval before publication on the journal’s editorial platform.
Responsibilities of reviewers.
Reviewers play a crucial role in maintaining the scientific quality of the journal. Therefore, they are expected to conduct their evaluations with confidentiality, objectivity, impartiality, and academic respect.
Their responsibilities include:
-
Providing critical, constructive, and well-justified evaluations.
-
Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding the manuscript and its contents.
-
Completing the review within the established timeframe.
-
Declaring any potential conflicts of interest that may compromise their objectivity.
-
Informing the editor of any suspected plagiarism, duplicate publication, or scientific misconduct.
Appeals and reconsiderations.
Authors may submit well-founded appeals regarding editorial decisions they believe to be incorrect or unjustified. In such cases, the editorial board will review the matter and may request additional evaluations from other reviewers when necessary.
The decision issued after the appeal process will be considered final.
Commitment to scientific quality.
The peer review process adopted by the Acceso Científico Multidisciplinary Scientific Journal seeks to ensure the scientific quality, editorial transparency, and credibility of published articles. Through this rigorous evaluation system, the journal contributes to strengthening academic rigor, the reliability of scientific knowledge, and the responsible dissemination of research.
